Southern Oregon Attractions
From covered bridges to a scaled down version of the Golden Gate Bridge, Rogue River has an impressive list of attractions.
Palmerton Park is among the city’s jewels. Set on the banks of Evans Creek, the park is home to over 70 varieties of trees, a playground and picnic area.
The park is now connected to nearby Anna Classick Park by Skevington Crossing. Washed out by the flood of 1997, the original Skevington Bridge has been replaced by Skevington Crossing, which some say bears a strong resemblance to the Golden Gate Bridge. The 100-foot bridge spans Evans Creek to connect the parks and is open to foot traffic only.
Speaking of bridges, the nearby Evans Valley is home of the world-famous Wimer Covered Bridge. One of the few covered bridges still open to vehicle traffic, the Wimer Bridge has served its community for over 100 years and is a landmark of the community.
Natural attractions within two hours from the City of Rogue River include Crater Lake, the Rogue River Gorge and the Southern Oregon Coast.
